Broadway Adaptations

Hi all,

So the 2013-2014 Broadway season is starting to pick up, and there are adaptations galore.  Big Fish recently opened.  I personally think The Bridges of Madison County is one to keep an eye on.  It features music & lyrics by Jason Robert Brown )a phenomenal composer), direction by one of my favorite directors Bartlett Sher (South Pacific [2008 revival, The Light in the Piazza [2006], and the Metropolitan Opera’s most recent production of Rossini’s Il Barbiere di Siviglia), and stars the effervescent Kelli O’Hara.

You can get discount tickets to Broadway and Off-Broadway theatre as a CUNY student/adjunct through TKTS this link: https://secure2.tdf.org/join/CUNY.html.  It’s how I afford most of my theatre.

…Finally, this is me fan-girling more than anything else, but Emma Approved started today!  You can watch the first episode here: http://youtu.be/aeeXkf8LZ_8.  (And if you haven’t seen The Lizzie Bennet Diaries, you should spend procrastination time here: http://youtu.be/KisuGP2lcPs)

If you can’t tell, I’m finally catching up with this course post-comps.  I’m off to work on my post about The Sentinel/2001: A Space Odyssey and read Hutcheon.

  1. Also, Off-B’way-Adaptation-wise, I have heard only fabulous things about Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 (War and Peace in Cabaret!).
